Lead Acid batteries are maintenance free, of sealed construction, combining small size with high output and long life. They are classified as 'non-spillable', having unique sealing techniques to guarantee that no electrolyte leakage will occur.

In a stand-by (back-up) state, such as battery back-up in a home alarm system, they may typically provide service for 3 years, or more.

However, where the battery is required to provide high current supply on a regular basis, thus requiring regular re-charging, it is important to ensure that the charger used has built-in intelligence. In doing so, the battery should be capable of being recharged 300 times, or more.

Failure to use an 'intelligent' battery charger may result in the battery accepting fewer than 30 charges, often less, thus dramatically reducing the life expectancy of the battery.
